DEFENSE AGAINST GUN THREAT
Hello! In this article I would like to describe you a technique to defend yourself against a gun threat. When an attacker is threating you with a gun you have to give him what he wants: money, key of your car, etc. … Don’t be a hero! In Krav Maga the real hero is who comes back safe at home! But if you see a real risk for you and your family then try to do something!
Defense technique from the front: when a crazy guy threats you with a gun he wants to see your fear so you have to be afraid because in this case you are doing the 90% of the technique: your hands are very close to the gun. So:
- Make the defense: with one of your arms bring the gun completely on the side in order to put your body outside of the fire line. It’s very important this technique because if you put outside the gun by a diagonal movement of your arm and the attacker takes the gun back you will be still on the fire line!
- Go close to the attacker like falling and hit him by a punch.
- Take the gun: with the other hand grab the corner of the gun, put pressure with your elbow and move yourself back.
NOTE
In Krav Maga there are 3 tempos: 1, 1.5, 2
- 1: this is the tempo in 360° defense because you defend yourself and attack at the same time.
- 1,5: this is the tempo in knife defense because you defend yourself from the knife attack and then you grab the hand of the attacker.
- 2: this is the tempo in gun defense because you take the gun outside (1st tempo) and then you punch the attacker (2nd tempo).
